Dicyandiamide is White crystalline powder. It is used in the production of guanidine, which is increasingly used now. This is due to guanidine's strong alkalinity and high stability, and it can form a wide variety of derivatives. All kinds of guanidine can be produced by reaction of dicyandiamide with acid. Also it used in the manufacture of adhesives, melamine, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, coatings, synthetic detergents and guanidine raw materials. It is also used as rubber vulcanization accelerator, steel surface hardener, paper flame retardant, mildew proofing agent.
